EGAP Real Estate and Germantown Cleaners will host a joint grand opening celebration for their businesses 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at 624 Jefferson St.
The two minority-owned businesses are at 624A and 624B Jefferson St. The celebration is a free event featuring food, children's activities, health screenings provided by the Matthew Walker Health Clinic and live music. The event will include players from the American Basketball Association's Nashville Broncs. The businesses' owners hope to be a part of the ongoing revitalization of the historic Jefferson Street Corridor.
"I believe that it is important to continue revitalization efforts in the community by opening new businesses, and I appreciate and support positive local community efforts," said Page Turner, broker with EGAP Real Estate.
Jefferson Street has seen numerous improvements over the years, including new restaurants and retail options.
The corridor will see much more improvement in the months to come since the Jefferson Street United Merchants Association was awarded an $800,000 grant to begin making landscaping improvements around Interstate 40, which runs across the historic corridor. J.U.M.P. will receive a $640,000 Transportation Enhancement Grant for Phase 1 of the Gateway to Heritage Streetscape Improvement project. Mayor Karl Dean is kicking in $160,000 from Metro.
"It is our ultimate goal to offer quality service to our community and our clients, and we are privileged to be able to do so," said Josh Mundy, co-owner of Germantown Cleaners.
